Bloody Dames

The image of a woman covered head to toe in blood is a staple of the horror genre. While it’s commonly used as a mark of difference and terror, the all over blood look can also be very empowering, especially when you look at movies like Carrie and the Descent. So take a look at these lovely ladies who decided to paint the town, and themselves red for the occasion. Enjoy.

  1. Super cool. There are definitely images here that are on the side of not-empowering, and then those that are certainly progressive. Those ones tend to be from the more progressive films I guess.

    Neat idea - thanks!

  2. Such iconic images. They're designed to stick in your mind after you see the movie....sometimes you won't remember the movie at all but that image is ingrained.

  5. I approve! There is a film titled Rise staring Lucy Liu, a woman I find to be very pretty, but in Rise, she plays a half vampire, or full or some shit. In any event, she is covered in blood at a few moments in the film and to be super honest, I thought she looked wicked hot when she was covered in crimson. Why? I have no idea, but while the movie is only mediocre, I will always remember it for the beautiful imagery of Lucy Liu covered in life force.
