If you watch them for what they are and without the presumption of the horror genre, they make for quite pleasant watching with some pretty decent morals.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3295067283198824806.post-71676585788862159342010-09-09T13:15:33.988-05:002010-09-09T13:15:33.988-05:00This is what I think.

I also enjoyed the Village for the same reason, that and the creatures were scary as f***k!Monster Scholarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16512345969721307138noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3295067283198824806.post-35826070887807224282010-05-31T12:47:35.726-05:002010-05-31T12:47:35.726-05:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3295067283198824806.post-37465650498502133032010-05-30T11:22:34.535-05:002010-05-30T11:22:34.535-05:00I find myself in agreement with much of your criti...I find myself in agreement with much of your critique here. I wonder if the new special effects laden Shyamalan film signals a new way forward for him in traditional action blockbusters given his failures in Hitchcock-esque filmmaking of late.

Still, I must disagree with you on The Village. Even thought the creatures are not creatures, I found the concept of a community creating monsters as a means of social control in order to protect others from evil of interest particularly since this has been tried before, as with church cultures. In addition, it reminds us that evil cannot be avoided, and even when a hedge is built around a community to prevent outside evil we eventually encounter the evil within ourselves. For me, The Village still presented interesting metaphors and moral lessons.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01448917215751194418noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3295067283198824806.post-83243203812654305602010-05-29T01:36:19.687-05:002010-05-29T01:36:19.687-05:00See, I don't think The Village is a crappy hor...See, I don't think The Village is a crappy horror movie... in fact, it was a really good horror movie but I agree that the twist ruined it. I should have stayed the way it was and not strive for a twist ending.

But with Signs, I actually enjoyed the twist because it was an homage to War of the Worlds where these big bad aliens died because of a cell that we were immune to.Mr. Johnny Sandmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05052255118249746992noreply@blogger.com
